Short History About Us

The Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) was founded by some committed eminent Muslims on Thursday, the 1st of January 1959, at the Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos under the Chairmanship of His Royal Highness, Oba Alayeluwa Musendiku Braimah Adeniji-Adele II, the then Oba of Lagos.

The Muslim Association of Nigeria remains committed to its founding principles of faith, integrity, and service. As we advance into the future, we invite all members and stakeholders to join us in strengthening our institutions and expanding our outreach.

With unity and dedication, we will continue to serve Islam and humanity with excellence.

Since its inception some fifty-five years ago, the Association has had eight Presidents.  They were:

  • Late  Alhaji Professor Alliu Babs Fafunwa (1959-1961)
  • Late Alhaji Y. O. Basorun (1961-1965)
  • Late Alhaji S. A. Dawodu (1965-1986)
  • Alhaji S. A. Sanusi (1986-1992)
  • Alhaji R. A. Alarape Busari (1992-2000)
  • Alhaji L. O. Salako (2000-2006)
  • Alhaji Waheed Akin Olajide (2006 – 2012)
  • Alhaji S.A. Yusuf (2012 – 2017)
  • Alhaji Tajudeen O. Ojikutu (2017 – 2023)

The Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) serves communities across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, providing education, religious guidance, and humanitarian support to strengthen the Muslim Ummah and uplift society.

 

The Muslim Association of Nigeria (M.A.N), London Branch, has its new edifice officially opened on 10th of July, 1999.  It is officially referred to as Muslim Association of Nigeria Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre.  It is situated at 365 Old Kent Road, London SEI-5PH. The Branch Launched a £2.5 million pounds programme to expand the Centre in 2004 and it has also commenced a Fund Appeal for £6.5million pounds to acquire a piece of land and build a sophisticated, modern multi-dimensional Islamic centre.
